The fourth of April 2019 the Commission will launch a new call for WIFI4EU. The initiative, which has stored 120 million of euros for the period 2018-2020, will foster the installation of modern Wi-Fi networks in the centers of community life in all the member States of the European Union.

The call will be open to the each European municipality or even to groups of municipalities and it will close the fifth of April 2019 at 5 PM. Each municipality will have the opportunity to request one of the 3,400 available vouchers, worth 15,000 euros each, that can be utilized to install Wi-Fi networks in public spaces such as town halls, public libraries, museums, public parks and squares.
To request the vouchers it is necessary to register on WIFI4EU’s designated platform. The request should be done as soon as possible after the opening of the call since the Commission will choose the beneficiaries according to a first-come, first-served basis and considerbly high level of participation is expected.
When the first call was launched in November 2018, 13200 requests were submitted and 3500 within the first five seconds after the call was opened.

The fact that all the countries that participated to this initiative, with the exception of Iceland, received at least 15 vouchers, gives an idea of the general high level of interest generated by this opportunity.
